Academy Introduction
A global professional training platform to lead future shipbuilding industry cooperation

Masters Academy

The Masters Academy is the flagship educational program of the Korea-U.S. Center for Shipbuilding and Marine Industry & Technology Cooperation, operated to support cooperation in the shipbuilding industry between Korea and the United States and to cultivate skilled professionals who will lead the future shipbuilding industry.

Recently, the United States has been pursuing the reconstruction of its shipbuilding industry as a national strategic priority, but it is facing issues such as a shortage of production personnel, a decline in skilled labor, and reduced productivity. In contrast, Korea possesses world-class shipbuilding production technology and on-site operational experience, as well as accumulated expertise in the construction of large merchant vessels, naval warships, and eco-friendly ships.

Masters Academy aims to connect the strengths of both countries to support the capacity building of the U.S. shipbuilding industry, while simultaneously expanding the foundation for global cooperation in the Korean shipbuilding industry.

Major education and
support programs

Shipbuilding Workforce Production Training Services

We dispatch field experts from the Korean shipbuilding industry to the United States to provide practical, hands-on training on the entire shipyard production process, including welding, painting, outfitting, and production management.

In addition, we are establishing a sustainable workforce development system by operating educational programs for not only shipbuilding industry workers in the U.S. but also job seekers and vocational training instructors.

Ship practical training program

We invite U.S. shipyard employees and prospective personnel to Korea to provide field trips and practice-oriented education at domestic shipyards, research institutes, and universities.

This enhances understanding of the Korean shipbuilding industry's production systems and ship design and construction technologies, and supports the improvement of practical capabilities.

Shipyard Productivity Improvement Consulting Services

We dispatch domestic shipbuilding industry production management experts to U.S. shipyards to provide customized consulting for production process analysis, work efficiency, productivity enhancement, and operational system improvement.

Through this, we support the enhancement of production competitiveness and the establishment of a sustainable operating system for U.S. shipyards.

Professional operating system

Masters Academy operates a Production Education Steering Committee and a Consulting Steering Committee to improve educational quality and advance programs.

The Steering Committee is responsible for selecting target shipyards for training, developing curriculums, identifying new training fields, improving consulting methodologies, and evaluating performance, while continuously improving the program based on the results of training and consulting.

In addition, we have established a pool of experts consisting of technical training centers at major domestic shipyards, the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Association, polytechnic colleges, master craftsmen, and production management specialists in the shipbuilding industry to provide education and consulting services optimized for on-site needs.

A Korea-U.S. Shipbuilding Industry Talent Ecosystem Growing Together

The Masters Academy is more than just an educational program; it is a platform that promotes technological exchange and talent cooperation between the Korean and U.S. shipbuilding industries.

Moving forward, we intend to expand our educational scope to include key future fields such as production technology, digital shipyards, eco-friendly vessels, and autonomous ships, thereby contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of the shipbuilding industries in both countries and establishing a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
